2018 Fellows

CAROL MITCHELL

Carol MitchellSt. Kitts-born Carol Mitchell is a first year MFA student in fiction with a passion for writing about her Caribbean home. She has written twelve books for children and her work for adult audiences has appeared in several journals including, most recently, Poui: The University of the West Indies Cave Hill Journal of Creative Writing. In addition to tutoring at the George Mason Writing Center, Carol is a professional editor and works with CaribbeanReads Publishing, which focuses its work on publishing books by authors of the Caribbean. 

 

 

TIM BARZDITIS

Tim BarzditisTim Barzditis is a poetry student at George Mason University's Creative Writing MFA program. Prior to his time at GMU, Tim earned his BA and MA in English at Lynchburg College. He currently serves as the Comics Editor for Hellscape Press and as a reader for Stillhouse Press. Tim's work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and is forthcoming/featured in The Lindenwood Review, Foothill: a journal of poetry, Whurk, Freezeray Poetry, and elsewhere. 

 

RACHEL PURDY

Rachel PurdyRachel Purdy loves adventure. For five years, she traveled North America in an RV, working as a freelance journalist and writing a travel blog. Her love of travel was cemented after receiving a grant to study modern short stories at the University of Cambridge. She is pursuing a master’s degree in fine arts from George Mason University, where she studies creative nonfiction writing. Rachel will be traveling to the Balkans, where she will be writing about that region through the lens of coffee and coffee shops.
