Rei Berroa

Bio: Rei Berroa was born in the Dominican Republic in 1949. He has published more than 40 books of poetry, literary criticism, and poetry anthologies. Some of his books of poetry include Libro de los dones y los bienes (Book of Gifts and Assets) (2013, 2010), Otridades (Othernesses) (2010), and Libro de los fragmentos y otros poemas (Book of fragments and other poems) (2007). He is also the author of the book on literary criticism: Ideología y retórica: Las prosas de guerra de Miguel Hernández (Ideology and Rhetoric: The War Prose of Miguel Hernández). He edited the Dominican Literature section for Revista Iberoamericana (1988) and Aproximaciones a la literatura dominicana (Approaches to Dominican Literature) (2008, 2009). His honors include the Mihai Eminescu Prize (Romania), the Trieste Poesia International Prize for lifetime achievement in poetry, and the Médaille de Vermeil prize (Paris, France). Since 1984, he teaches Spanish and Latin American Literature and culture at George Mason University, in Virginia.
