Our second event co-sponsored with the Middle East Institute to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Arab Spring will be taking place, featuring award-winning Egyptian writer Yasmine El Rashidi. El Rashidi will be discussing her debut novel, Chronicle of a Last Summer, the story of a young Egyptian’s woman’s political and personal coming of age in a Cairo enduring tumultuous times. The book delicately explores the conscience of an entire generation that grew up in silent fear as the protagonist wonders about the silences that have most impacted the life of her family, and herself.

El Rashidi will be in conversation about Chronicle of a Last Summer, and her thoughts on Egypt ten years after Tahrir Square with writer, former NPR foreign correspondent, and Cheuse Center Board member Jacki Lyden in what is sure to be a truly dynamic discussion.

Once again, this event has been postponed until a later date. Please be on the lookout for its rescheduling.
