An Evening with Jesus Carrasco and Gabrielle Lucille Fuentes
On Monday, March 26, the Cheuse Center and George Mason University will welcome Spanish novelist Jesus Carrasco. Carrasco will be in conversation with local novelist Gabrielle Fuentes at 7:00 at DuPont Underground, 1500 19th Street, NW in Washington, DC.
Jesus Carrasco was born in Badajoz, Spain, and now lives in Edinburgh, Scotland. Out in the Open (Intemperie), his debut novel, was a huge bestseller in Spain, published in more than twenty-one countries, and is the winner of many international awards, including the European Union Prize for Literature 2016 and an English PEN award.
Gabrielle Lucille Fuentes is the author of The Sleeping World (Touchstone, 2016). She has received fellowships from Yaddo, Hedgebrook, the Millay Colony, Willapa Bay AiR, and the Blue Mountain Center. Her work has appeared in One Story, Cosmonauts Avenue, Slice, Pank, and elsewhere. Her story “The Elephant’s Foot” was a Distinguished Story in Best American Short Stories 2016. She is an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing and English Literature at the University of Maryland.
